We’ve got HUGE news coming from the producers of The Shot today including the announcement of a new name, new judges and the surprise premiere of episodes 1-4 of the new season!
The new season has been visually revamped and has received a complete overhaul programming wise — from only accepting original music to establishing the concept of providing artists with the experience of auditioning for a record label. Now, the producers have also re-named the series The Shot: Remastered to highlight the major changes to the platform and they have said that artists will be auditioning for “MADE Music”, a shout out to The Shot‘s parent not-for-profit corporation.
In keeping with the “record label audition” concept, each judge will represent a different department within the label and the first in-person meeting between artists and the judges will emulate a label meeting or pitch. Specifics about which judge will hold which department head title have yet to be released.
On the front of judges though, executive producer and presumed “label head” C.J. Allen has announced that stand-up comedian and performance coach Eric Johnston and A&R executive and artist manager Kate Davies, who currently works with vocal coach Lorraine Lawson.
“Both Eric and Kate bring a whole new perspective and level of expertise to the panel,” Allen said, “and with the direction that The Shot: Remastered is taking … the label, the balanced focus on performance and the business … they’re a no brainer to bring in to join myself, Jennifer [Beavis], Shane [Christopher Neal] and Jessie T. I’m very excited about what they’re going to add to the dynamic and having already filmed with them, this season is going to be like nothing we’ve ever done before.”
Allen also confirmed the return of season 7 judges Jennifer Beavis (Librascor Copyright Consulting, BMG Rights Management), Shane Christopher Neal (Country 89.1FM, Giant TV, Canadian Music Week) and Jessie T (country music singer-songwriter and recording artist). Sam Cook has also been previously announced as returning to the hosting role.
AND IF THAT ISN’T ENOUGH … the first four episodes of The Shot: Remastered premiere TONIGHT (April 26) at 6pm EDT on MADE4TV (here). The judges, including the new faces, review demo videos from the first round of submissions and reveal which artists will move on to the next round.
Needless to say, it’s a busy day in the world of The Shot!
