Music & Artist Development Experience (MADE) is proud to welcome The Shot to its range of programs for 2018. The agreement combines the strengths of MADE’s role as a national not-for-profit that provides development opportunities for music creators and The Shot‘s reputation as the facilitator of a world-class, personalized performance platform.
The Shot began in 2014 as a singing competition and mentorship program for university and college students in Waterloo Region and has grown since 2016 to become an industry respected artist development experience for singers age 16 and over from anywhere in the world. The Shot‘s fifth season in September 2016 drew video audition submissions from across North and South America, Europe and Asia. Its in-person auditions brought together over 500 performers from across Canada and the United States. Season 6 of The Shot will take place in September 2018.
In addition, creator and executive producer of The Shot, C.J. Allen, will become MADE’s President and Managing Director and a member of MADE’s Board of Directors. Mr. Allen’s expertise in building immersive experiences for singers, songwriters, lyricists and performers and background in multiple industries will lead to the expansion of MADE’s programming.
On his new position Mr. Allen said, “I’m very proud of what we have achieved with The Shot over the passed three years. We have discovered and nurtured talent from around the world and now, together with MADE, the opportunity we can provide to aspiring singer-songwriters and performers is even more vast. I’m thankful for the chance and am honoured to serve as President and Managing Director of MADE and look forward to creating even more opportunities for music creators in Canada and abroad.”
Mr. Allen will take office on January 13, 2018. Mr. Allen will also continue as the executive producer of The Shot.
The amalgamation will also lead to new digital home for The Shot at the new web address www.musicexperiences.org/theshot/.
